Real stories. Honest goodbyes.

When someone you love dies, everything shifts. Time seems to stop, but the phone calls, decisions and questions don’t. Somehow, while you’re trying to make sense of the fact that your person is gone, you’re also being asked to find the words to sum up their entire life.

That’s where I come in.

As a Melbourne funeral celebrant, I take the time to get to know the person behind the funeral. We talk about the good bits, the hard bits, the quirks, the stories, the inappropriate laughs and everything else that made them who they were. I then bring those pieces together into a ceremony that actually sounds like your person and feels right for the people in the room.

There is no “right” way to say goodbye. A funeral can be sad and funny. Heavy and warm. Quiet and intimate, full of stories and laughter, traditional, completely left of centre or somewhere beautifully in between.

No generic scripts. No pretending death isn’t sad. No forcing a funeral to be a “celebration” when celebrating is the last thing you feel like doing. Just an honest, personal ceremony with space for the tears, the laughter, the awkward stories and everything else that comes with being human.

I can’t fix grief or make losing someone hurt less. But for a little while, I can hold some of it with you while we create a goodbye that reflects the love, laughter and life you shared.

Ways I Can Support You..

  • “Candice helped our family through a very difficult time and situation managing the return of ashes from overseas. She helped us navigate the process and showed such compassion and care. Through such an awful time, Candice showed there are people who care and gave us faith there are kind people still around. Thank you Candice for all you did for the family. We will be forever grateful.”

  • "Candice was compassionate, very knowledgeable, transparent, and sensitive to our needs as we planned a memorial for my husband. She listened, helped us clarify issues making appropriate suggestions and then tried to make what we wanted happen. She also met all deadlines without fuss or creating any anxiety for the family. I would certainly recommend Candice to others. Thank you Candice."

  • "Where do we begin? Candice is nothing short of spectacularly amazing. Her emotional intelligence is out of this world beautiful. Candice’s ability to hold the space and inform you of every step, honestly made my family feel so comfortable and we also felt that we knew Candice was going to get the “job done” so to speak. Our task wasn’t easy having to retrieve our loved ones ashes from Spain, but we got there in the end. Hurdles was an understatement. Candice, along with us, rode the wave of uncertainty, yet never made us feel that we were alone. We are truly grateful for this incredible individual. Candice will forever hold a beautiful place in our hearts xx"

  • "To think as a parent that you would have to be looking for someone to plan a funeral for your child is something you should not ever have to imagine. With this in mind, as parents you also want to have the very best for your child, with respect and love front of mind. When Candice walked into our house we knew we had made the right choice, with an open heart a wealth of knowledge and true kindness that never faulted throughout our entirely difficult journey we are ever grateful. With hundreds of people in attendance, a venue that we were able to select (on Candice's recommendation) to reflect our family and our child, every detail flexilbley created such a memorable and beautiful celebration of our Angel's life. We couldn't have done it without Cadice and are forever grateful. With love xxx"
